In a super "I-hate-what-tech-has become-and-that-I-am 'in tech'-as-it-continues-like-this" mood, how are you?

Some people will point out that tech was always like this in some form or fashion and I can't really argue against that with my full chest but I will say that the scale and scope of the harm that tech could do was significantly smaller 20 years ago. I assumed, I think reasonably, that people would prioritize controlling the damage that tech could and does enable.

I was incorrect.

Feeling good: having got my Police Feelings off my chest for now, I am momentarily off to play my 100-year-old piano that uses 200-400-year-old network-free, electricity-free, VC-free technology, and I’ll play a note or two in your honor.

@inthehands huh. I feel like you should know @kevinrj if you like playing old keys. I believe Harpsichord is Kevin's most favored form but I think I might not remember correctly

@griotspeak @inthehands Harpsichords are nice, but actually my favorite is the pianoforte from about 1780. — nice meeting you Paul

@kevinrj @inthehands I knew that I misremembered it. My apologies!

@griotspeak @inthehands no reason to apologize I make mistakes all the time.

It’s one of my primary skills!

I’ve never had the chance to play a really well-maintained 1780s fortepiano or the like. Some older, some newer, but never quite that!

I’m a bit of disaster with the late 18th century rep anyway. Mozart piano concertos especially are some of my favorite listening, but never comes out that well in my hands! More of an early 19th guy myself.

@inthehands @griotspeak I’ve only played 2 Mozart concerti k. 466 467 but it was a lot of fun.

@kevinrj @griotspeak Ooooo! Those are some gems!

I recently discovered pianist Clara Haskil, who among other things made a striking recording of 466 in the 1950s.
