@liztai@hachyderm.io@Rana I guess it depends where they are from..I think American Chinese may not practice this anymore but in South East Asia this still stands. Also we tend to take a lot of our cultural qualities for granted 
@liztai Does this convey interconnection as well as hierarchy? Is one primary over the other?
My English-speaking brain goes straight to hierarchy, but I've learned how to hear enough Thai to see how much their version of this continually shows how two people are connected. That's why I'm curious. Don't know enough about how this works in any of the Chinese cultures.
