The US ordinary folks’ #TikTokBan consciousness raising continues on #RedNote #xiaohongshu
“they have parks … they have food”
@kcarruthers you have no...parks??
Malaysia has parks in our neighbourhoods etc
@liztai I’m in Australia we have nice parks and a lot of them near nice beaches. That was an American who was speaking.
@kcarruthers @liztai Also in America we have lots of parks so I don't know what the hell he's going on about. Of all things I wouldn't have thought "has parks" would've been some metric by which to judge a 3.7 million square mile country.
@MisterMoo @kcarruthers @liztai Yes, quite a few parks within walking distance of my house, as well. Of course, I live in Texas and there's a lot of land to go around. I was more interested in them mentioning they could afford food.
@liztai @kcarruthers I don't know where the TikTok guy was posting from specifically, but in general, development in the US has prioritized single family homes. If you have your own yard, you don't need a park. You also don't have to share space with others, especially others of a different race. Drill down to the bottom of anything in the US and the essence is usually racism.
we've got plenty of parks here in England, and affordable cars, although its still possible at least in towns to live without a car.
Road surfaces may well be better in China nowadays, but I suspect Chinese locals don't get to complain if there are road works in the middle of the night (ours have restricted hours)
