lmao the obsessive praise for the guy who basically started the ban in the first place is wild. dems will never stop hand-delivering wins to the GOP

The Verge · TikTok is coming back online in the USBy Wes Davis

@davidcelis how is TikTok’s preemptive compliance the dems fault?

@mkornblum dems had no reason to join republicans in supporting legislature to ban TikTok with zero evidence. Biden had no reason to sign the legislation. Biden could have taken his own action without punting it to the incoming Trump administration for him to make promises of executive action and to take credit

@davidcelis I mean, it would have passed the house even w no dem support, and the Senate bill also funded aid for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. I dunno all the available scenarios there as far as “I don’t support the TikTok ban, so I’ll vote no on this bill, and then vote yes on a clean foreign aid bill” but I’d guess a lot of senators of both parties may not have viewed the TikTok ban as the main focus of the bill. I dunno I guess I think this is not one to blame the dems for? It seems to have been very bipartisan

@mkornblum i’m saying it’s ridiculous that it was bipartisan, ridiculous that legislature like this is wrapped up into huge bills that also include foreign war aid (especially for ISRAEL) and that dems basically played into this outcome
