“Google says passkeys have been used to authenticate users more than one billion times across over 400 million Google Accounts since the company launched passkey support in 2022. Google says passkeys are used on Google Accounts more often than legacy forms of two-step verification, such as SMS one-time passwords and app-based one-time passwords combined.” https://techcrunch.com/2024/05/02/google-brings-passkey-support-to-its-advanced-protection-program-ahead-of-the-us-presidential-election/
@rmondello A billion times over 400 million accounts is an average of 2.5 times per account. To me this suggests that some people are using it a lot, but most have tried it once and stopped using it.
Are there more detailed stats?
@mocelet @rmondello Alternatively, maybe most people don’t log in/out very frequently and thus don’t need to use them often.
