I watch YouTube videos about breakfast food in Taiwan to make myself sad. This is the breakfast culture I left. That I need.
Even the auntie’s Hokkien makes me nostalgic for my grandma.
I don’t want ‘breakfast food’ where I am. Ever.
@skinnylatte it's ok you can just follow my feed to see more
@grumpasaurus I need your commentary in Hokkien
@skinnylatte lol I only know how to say "I'm hungry" "I'm stupid" "let's eat' "I don't know" "im full"
@skinnylatte oh. Hurry up. I've heard that one a lot.
@skinnylatte it'll be about 8am by the time I'm checked into the hotel what should I eat first
@grumpasaurus where are you? Taipei? Tainan? Chiayi?
@skinnylatte I'll be in Taipei! I'm literally on the plane approaching right now. Specifically I'll be in 士林 which I'm not that familiar with but I'll see what's still open after I check in
@skinnylatte tbh I'll probably be going to 熱炒 more often than hot pot because we have nothing like it in Chicago!
@grumpasaurus I went to a place that specialized in the ‘army village’ Chinese foods. Was really fascinating
@skinnylatte "army village"? What's that?
@grumpasaurus when the KMT first came over, they settled in these villages which meant that there was a huge fusion of diff chinese food from all over china, found nowhere else but taiwan. there were a handful of restaurants that still do that food
