@brie Playing devil’s advocate, this may mean community loses time and database space for polishing the map where it doesn’t matter because hardly anyone will need that level of details in these places. Google just keeps doing what’s profitable.

What seem to be "wasted database space" for you might be crucial for someone else, or just a weird hobby.
Just as one example: There are folks mapping playgrounds in great detail. I couldn't care less as of today but I also don't have kids. Maybe in ten years with my own kids I'll be glad someone started this. Let folks express themselves.
