@lucybeahere @carnage4life No. My impression is that Netflix was offering the studios generous payouts (up to and including Netflix losing money on the deal).

The studios (rightly, imo) understood that this was a market move by Netflix. Essentially, Netflix was paying a premium to buy off the competition.

IIRC, the studios only really got serious about streaming when Netflix and Amazon started producing their own content.
