I guess it's time for me to do one of these.
I am a principal software engineer, currently working mostly in #AWS serverless field, and coding in #Terraform, #CDK, #TypeScript.
I also code #FitBit clockfaces for fun in #JavaScript and #SVG.
In my spare time I like listening to classic rock, playing VR games, and riding my Mongoose Dolomite bike.
@ygalanter It never occurred to me that the clock faces were programmable by a hobbyist! I wasn't sure whether that includes the Inspire 2 from a quick scan of the docs; do all of their trackers support that SDK?
@mmcknett Nope, only smartwatches are supported by SDK as far as I know, starting from Ionic on. But they have quite a few of those too (several Versa and Sense models).
Here's some of my attempts https://gallery.fitbit.com/developer/aa8432f6-5691-48a0-9d6f-4d9b79c40abe
@ygalanter We have a cat, 2 chihuahuas and a French mastiff mix. The smallest chihuahua Milo (in my profile pic) is the one who runs the house
@ygalanter
You have the life that I aspire to have, yet 3 dogs will do it, 3 cats... sheesh, I hope you are enjoying the scratches on your face!
WIth that being said, what are your thoughts on the whole being a software engineer, is that still relevant, we students do we still have hope?
Also, I have never tried VR games, and I would love to do that!
That would be the first thing I get for myself, when I start working as a SWE, haha!
@AdamDoesTech Yep, being involved with software - especially designing and making it is very relevant and is becoming even more so. People are in demand, these are exciting times.
Regarding VR - this is the only thing that finally made me exercise. There're tons of workouts you can do in VR, if you look at #holofit tag - I posted some of photos and videos.
@ygalanter
I’m not too worried about the layoffs, but there is still demand even after that amount of layoffs we had?
Also, I understand 2020-2022 is an abnormality in terms of hiring just because of CV19 and everything, yet would love tp hear your thoughts on the matter
