(mostly) survived day one of contractors. where is my cookie.
it just feels so incredibly invasive to have people working on the house, but i don't feel i can be elsewhere since i'd rather they ask me to make decisions rather than pick whatever is most convenient.
@zigdon hopefully it was at least non-emergency contractor work? only thing worse than contractors working on the house is unplanned contractors working on the house
@aimeeble yeah, if all goes well we'd have a usable fireplace again tonight, which will be very welcome.
I keep wishing upgrades would work like in the sims: take my pile of cash and get an instant upgrade.
I would even be willing to settle for 'take a pile of cash, disrupt my life for a predictable amount of time, and deliver exactly what we agreed on'.
No one warned me that home ownership doesn't work like that.
@zigdon @aimeeble right there with you.
Personally, I'm happy to be away and deal with what I get, because it suits my low-conflict preferences. But my partner is living your exact description - can't be elsewhere because otherwise you get weird results, but not enjoying being present.
And yeah, there doesn't seem to be such a thing as doing the thing that was agreed, the way it was agreed.
