There’s A #HumanRights Abuse Problem In The #EV Industry
Some of the world's biggest #automakers use suppliers with serious human rights violation allegations against them.
BHRRC has reportedly documented 631 human rights abuse allegations since 2010 for seven key minerals used in electric vehicles, their rechargeable batteries and renewable energy technologies

Yes it is really sad about the abuses in the mineral industry with transnationals like Glencore and Chinese companies. Of course this is a problem with minerals in general not only for EVs. But it would be great if batteries could be regulated to be smaller, recycling and no use of cobalt, nickel and such as alternatives are already available in LFPs and SIB.
What are your thoughts on how to solve the mining problems?
@BenjaminHCCarr Volkswagen is a historically shitty company and Tesla is run by a libertarian who doesn't care about anything but money so this tracks. What about the rest of the #EV makers? Don't paint the entire industry with only 2. Also the billions of cellphone and computer batteries use the same minerals. While there is certainly room to be better all around in many labor sectors, don't amp this big oil propaganda as an EV problem.
@BenjaminHCCarr fortunately any manufacturer selling to the UK has to comply with the Modern slavery act, and ensure exploitation isn’t part of the entire supply chain, and publish what they have done to ensure that on the web site
The EU are introducing EV batteries passports so the minerals etc for Ev are sources ethically, and disposed of correctly
