I cannot overstate the value of being in community with other activists right now. It is what gives me the strength to get up in the morning and fight fascism.
@evacide same. My communities are holding me together even as I work hard to support my communities. Hardcore Aloha.
@evacide Same here!
@evacide Can confirm. I’ve started a few private group chats via @signalapp do do this very thing.
Why not one big one? Because each small group (single-digits) has multiple common threads and specific areas of interest.
Connect. Collaborate. Communicate. Conspire.
@evacide I don't know if you see my posts on Mastodon, but here's an artticle I wrote that gives hope: The Sweet Power of Outrage." Take heart in the 3.5% Rule and the growing signs of solidarity. https://proustsaidthat.blog/2025/02/23/the-sweet-power-of-outrage/
@evacide You’re doing it right.
Me too. The day prior to the german elections with a heavy shift to the right we've had an organizing workshop over here. Best thing anyway, because that's what fascists and especially their rich donors who want us separated and helpless hate the most, so I will gladly work on improving that with the goal to host such workshops ourselves.
Worried Canadians are wondering what that fight looks like.
As the saying goes, "Don't mourn. Organize", but there hasn't been as much activity as there was in 2017.
I haven't seen giant marches in pink hats or anything. No strikes.
Best would be international organizsation, in which several countries cancel American weapons buys on the same day that a few million Americans go on strike and into the streets.
Or something equally appropriate to loss-of-country.
@RoyBrander @evacide There were protests in many state capitals, and D.C. on President's Day: https://www.npr.org/2025/02/17/nx-s1-5299915/dc-protests
There's another one being planned for March 4th.
You can see what's upcoming on the r/50501 subreddit.
@evacide I am seeing communities being built everywhere - inter-generational social and climate justice communities, inter-cultural communities, human rights and solidarity communities, land and water protector communities........ It truly is wonderful. This how we find joy, take hope and survive.
@evacide so true! We are following from Sweden and that is gruesome. I can only imagine how it is in the US
