@fasterthanlime When you suffer through learning Nix, your only choice is to inflict that suffering upon others.
@stevestreza @fasterthanlime I kinda get that, it's like the emacs of OSes. An excruciating pain to learn but you get as a reward the intrinsic motivation to use it for absolutely everything.

@fasterthanlime I can recommend Numtide's example approach to install on Hetzner Cloud. https://github.com/numtide/srvos/blob/main/nixos/hardware/hetzner-cloud/default.nix
Together with nixos-anywhere, its a painless way to install and manage NixOS. 
@fasterthanlime uhh, last time I tried to install a custom image on Hetzners servers I screw up the boot entries and had to order KVM access to fix it :/

Actual answer: snaps drive me crazy so Debian, but if you don't have that prejudice then Ubuntu
