Yep. What you are really doing is increasing the friction of abusive contact.

It does this in a few ways, but in the long and short of it is that each additional step an abuser/attacker has to go through the less harassment will channel through the connection and, in general, the less likely the attacker is to even do it in the first place.

Also as a general rule people _don't_ bypass their affordances.

So if you make it easy to quote-boost content, people will usually not take screenshots as a first pass. If someone then turns around and detaches the QB, people will usually not go back to edit in a screenshot. If they were going to, they won't usually sign out of their account to do it.

Each step increases the time required for an attacker.

Doesn't work every time, but it also doesn't have to.
