In South Korea and China, celebrities can be quickly ruined. I’m still very sad over the case of Zhang Zhehan who was a rising star when his career was extinguished over posing in a photo in front of the wrong shrine. And then Lee Sun kyun who committed suicide because, despite testing negative for drugs, felt that his illustrious career was completely ruined and his family bankrupted.
@liztai for an outsider it makes no sense, fans going mad, deciding who their idol should work with etc, also commenting on looks, degrading or defamatory messages in mass social media moves, and ZZH one example I guess, only got to know as I was trying to learn the language
@Kaetchi It doesn’t make sense to those of us with a shared heritage either. Or maybe because I’m too old. I suppose the closest i can think of is The Beatles. I wish this culture can be abolished though … it’s just not healthy for anyone.
