Riverside Code at Qingming Festival has captured all my attention right now - it's a fantastic show. It's wonderful for many reasons: for the main couple that is not in their 20s. For the realistic portrayal of the younger brother on the spectrum who is *not* there for comic relief, but as a part of the team/family. For the dignified depiction of the powerlessness of the poorer classes and their fight to survive or get justice anyway. The show was a slow build up, but when it gets going it has quite some storytelling heft. #cdrama #chinesedrama
@Katztronaut yay I am glad you like it! I loved this drama from start to end. And I loved the humor!
@liztai
@Katztronaut if I can think of any I will let you know! Tho they are usually not costumed dramas (unfortunately the idol industry dominates this genre so a lot of actors below 30). Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty is one (I think you watched it?), The Long River, Heroes (2024) and Longest Day in Chang'an have more mature actors.
@liztai Nice, thank you! ^^ Yes, I've watched & loved Strange Tales Season 1 & 2. I started with Heroes on YouTube, but all the ads got cumbersome... I think I have it now on one or the other streaming app. Definitely one I will watch! Longest Day in Chang'an rings a bell, I might have bookmarked it somewhere too. I'm not solely costume drama oriented - I loved Meet Yourself for some of the same reasons - super diverse and interesting set of characters, a story beyond the romance theme, etc. ^^
