Legit my favourite character and actor in Si Jin right now. He's carrying the entire show on his little furry shoulders, I swear.
I thought I'd like #SiJin right off the bat for Zhang Wanyi reasons, but alas, the first episode was a mess because the editing was a mess and the writers or director thought it wasn't necessary to establish our characters in the first episode. Instead, we were shown a cascade of events that made our heads spin. We weren't given any anchor to really care for the characters.
I think if it was set up like Blossom, whose writers lovingly set up our characters in such a way that we're invested in their second lives, I would've been kinder.
I'll give it a few more episodes...but I'm having trouble focusing lol
@liztai The editing in the first episode was really strange, as if several different people with different styles and professional levels had tried their hands on it. There was exactly 1 good idea in it editing-wise.
@Katztronaut I had such hopes for this one. For once Zhang Wanyi doesn't look like a clone of his other dramas
@liztai Yeah, I was hoping for something more engaging, too. For me, it's in the 'meh' realm - might watch, might not, there are better ones.
@Katztronaut it's not even in the meh realm for me. It's more like omg I just finished work this is hurting my brain realm lol
@liztai Am having similar problems. Flow in story is off. At times it feels like a knock off of several other series that Zhang himself was in! He feels like he’s dialing it in - a caricature of his other roles. Someone said he is not a good actor because he is repeating his style. My feel is it is a directing & script problem.
