Prediction: within 2 months the “heart” of iOS development conversation will shift from twitter to mastodon. The wave of cool new clients will really ignite the imagination of the indie iOS dev scene in particular, I hope, but I think we’ll see the whole cast of characters here pretty soon. @mmayo I agree that the whole developer community will shift but for more casual communities it's a long long way
@mmayo FWIW, as a data point, most of the people I followed on Twitter are Apple/iOS/macOS developers and a good quarter to a third have already migrated. I imagine the number will only accelerate in time.
I don’t know if the Twitter user base as a whole will migrate any time soon, but this particular community seems destined to rehome itself here.
@jeff Agree and I think it's fine for things to balkanize somewhat. I tend to think/hope the future internet won't require 'winner take all' dynamics for platforms to be viable, but who knows.. usually every time I think we've unlocked some decentralization it winds up backfiring! :)
