As my spouse and I ran errands today, she wore a “Protect Trans Kids” t-shirt and I wore a “Trans Rights are Human Rights” ball cap. We catch people staring often, but today one cashier told us they loved our shirt and hat. While we ate lunch, someone came to our table, apologized for interrupting, and complimented our shirt and hat. Putting this out there for those overwhelmed by the ugliness and need a boost, that you have allies and advocates. Maybe more than you know. #PrideMonth #trans
@rwarner Agree. There is more support than it seems. It’s the silent majority. And it’s time for the silent majority to speak up. A round of for the t-shirts.
Recommendations for inclusive merchants where to buy a shirt?
@paezha @CanadianCrone @rwarner
I brought two of these “Protect #Trans Youth” shirts to give away at my birthday party
(It’s fun to give presents at your party )
They were very popular and folks took the address to get more
https://www.greenpeapress.com/shop/p/protect-trans-youth
It’s the Green Pea Press in #Alabama. Solid links to local groups, including the artist if you want to donate directly
I sent the artist $15 because this #opossum is the most
@rwarner @Aminorjourney thank you. It matters, a lot.
@rwarner I needed to hear this, I keep reminding myself that the evil fuckers are a minority and not a majority, so thanks!
@rwarner That is awesome! Thanks for sharing that.
@rwarner I wish I could fly a trans flag on the Fourth but I think it’s too late to get one.
@rwarner @lisamelton I also get compliments on my “Protect Trans Kids” shirt so I ordered 2 more
@NoctisEqui @rwarner I have two travel mugs I use. One reads "Be kind to all kinds." The other reads "Love equally." :)
@rwarner we are out there! And we are growing in numbers!
@rwarner yep. There's hate but there's a lot of support too. That's always nice to see.
@rwarner I get compliments every time I wear this shirt in public, without fail. There are more good, caring, compassionate people out there than we realize sometimes.
@rwarner i have the same shirt as your spouse (protect trans kids) and wore it to a librarian conference where i got the same response!
@rwarner it took me a long time to realize it but the virulent transphobes are generally a vocal minority. Just sucks that quite a few of them have a significant amount of power.
@melissabeartrix Aww thanks! Our trans son lives in Melbourne, Australia, safe from the US government and the Florida governor! He loves it there. Hugz back!
@rwarner As someone who tries as much as I can to be an ally, thank you for doing this!
