Japan #election reporting and no mention of the public's and politicians' mood on #climate and #biodiversity?!
apnews.com/article/japan-ishib

Important from climateactiontracker.org/count: "Basic Policy does not provide concrete emissions reduction targets; instead, it promotes the development of so-called “clean coal” "

Otherwise a good read to get an impression of what's been going on since #ShinzoAbe left office 2020. Abe's ruling party will probably lose majority and form a coalition due to corrupt members of parliament.
#lgbt_rights and women's rights were on the agenda but got culled pre-election for fear of losing conservative votes. Also, increasing the birth rate is a goal, so I reckon, women's rights might be seen as counter-productive to that goal...

But the omission of climate and biodiversity is unforgivable. When will political and economics journalists finally learn how to do their effin job properly?!

> ... the narrative around Abe’s legacy put forth in the media following the assassination overshadows just how unpopular Abe was with the public in his final years. Despite becoming the longest-serving prime minister in Japan’s history, his administration was mired in multiple corruption scandals and alleged cover-ups, which led his approval ratings to drop to an all-time low.
