#nextjs parallel route seems a good idea until you need to implement a dynamic route along with it or need to restore the UI state on refresh.

Cloud offering idea: web browser as a service. It'd be a service allowing you to comfortably browse the modern web by using powerful servers to run a web browser instance for you. It'd run through thousands of CPU-demanding uBlock lists installed, scanning through the increasing number of useless DOM elements and run an ai-slop-detector counter-AI model on every image to tag it as AI-generated when needed. #modernWeb /s
How the 'Fediverse' Works (and Why It Might Be the Future of Social Media)
A brief, jargon-free explainer on the freer future of the social web.

Just a rhetorical question: Is there an easy way to migrate a university website from #EpiServer to a more modern stack? I’m considering several decoupled solutions. #WebDevelopment #Jamstack #DecoupledArchitecture #ModernWeb #EpiServer #HeadlessCMS #DevOps #WebDev #React #Vue #Next #Nuxt #Strapi #Contentful #Prismic
It’s kind of wild how easily we’ve accepted that to access links to Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, etc we’re going to have to edit them by hand to go to a slightly different address so they’ll be usable. A lot of that is because X, Instagram, and TikTok want to force you to log in. And Reddit provides their own fix link but they broke their www mainly because they’re incapable of making a usable modern interface AND they want to force you to log in.
(If I didn’t include your favorite, it’s because no one tries to link me to it. )
Pretty crazy in the days of #ModernWeb ... I read the entire article. Phew!
FWIW, Christian Heilmann is here on Mastodon - @codepo8
What should we do? Imagine if e.g. .. the EU decided to make an ad-free web-search tool. That would seriously 'forkoff' all those wonderful people like Zuckerberg and Musk etc. etc. etc. Something like a national library. Potential BLISS!
github has gotten so shit ever since MS bought it
Do these console warnings have anything to do with why i have to reload the entire fucking page (by going into the URL bar with ctrl+L and hitting enter) every time I navigate anywhere on their reactJS clogged artery they call a website?
This has been happening for over a year. I am running up to date firefox (despite the appearance).

I've just read this comment about "Million Lint":
https://million.dev/blog/lint.en-US
"This reminds me of a hammer I had with a broken handle. Instead of replacing the handle, I attached the hammer to a helmet and whenever I want to drive a nail, I would wear the hammer and swing my head. But sometimes I miss and hit my head against the wall instead. So to fix that, I added some padding to my forehead and now it doesn’t hurt at all.
Problem solved!!"
No "This is better in the app, want to open it in the app?" popup? You got lucky.
It is terrible.

For Fred's sake. Stop gating your blogs by putting them on blocking horseshite websites like medium. I understand if it is some heavily researched piece of IP. But I can't justify locking things like programming tips or mathematical proofs behind a paywall !
These 'creators' are what I call "misdirected hustlers". The scum that rises and floats over the network that is the modern internet.
The new "islands architecture" for building web pages sounds like what the web was doing for decades before Single Page Apps (SPAs) became common: server-side rendering HTML and adding JavaScript interactivity to specific areas of a page. What's old is new again, I guess? https://jasonformat.com/islands-architecture/ #modernweb #programming #webapps
My latest journey in #modernweb:
1 slidedeck.
3 download buttons.
2+ different captcha approaches.
1 or 2 rounds of 60-second countdowns before the *actual* download button appears. It feels like I made it to Round Two of a quiz show.
How I know and why did I press them all in the first try, you ask?
Because the slide order was mixed up in the first one. So they even serve different content!
Oh, and of course I get other slides recommended because they also have a "Chapter 8".
Obviously.

Every single day I'm reminded that the Modern Web is complete garbage and am forced to curse at everyone that made React, Angular, etc. as ubiquitous as they are. #rant #modernweb
