My Amstrad CPC6128 got a hefty update: a 512Kb RAM expansion and a coveted M4 board. Now it can run the Symbos GUI and connect to the internet - here’s a telnet client running. #retrocomputing
@GrantMeStrength Very nice indeed! I'd have to get another expansion for my 464 if I wanted networking - I'm not so fussed about that, though.
@GrantMeStrength That desktop is really beautiful!
@GrantMeStrength The M4 is great but be warned it needs a strong WiFi signal and the WiFi chatter can bleed through to the A/V side which isn't shielded against close by transmissions.
@ChinnyVision mine is working very nicely.
@GrantMeStrength Oh they are fab. But if you are some saddo who does high quality capture from a CPC, you get irritating comments on your videos if the M4 gets a bit 'chattery' when they are watching on 4K TV's on surround systems.
@ChinnyVision lol. I had a green screen for my CPC. Any image is a good image.
@GrantMeStrength The way my GT65 is heading, any image less than 10 degrees from true is a good image. Must find someone to recap it!
@GrantMeStrength Do you have an original 3 inch FDD?
@nutilius yes, now repurposed on an Amstrad PCW motherboard experiment.
@GrantMeStrength An honest question... Can you boot Amstrad games from the GUI?
@richardtroupe huh. No idea. I suspect not but will try.
@GrantMeStrength very cool. I’d honestly never heard of the Amstrad line of computers. I love the SymbOS interface. Amazing what can be done on a Z80!
@steve very UK/euro centric company, on the budget side.
